Joy Horner Pregnancy Coaching - Mini Package

How I can help you

I was a Registered Midwife for 21 years and have helped hundreds of families prepare for birth and beyond. My gentle, practical and common sense approach is very popular with my clients.

Let me help guide you through the maze of choices for pregnancy, labour and birth.

I specialise in helping women and pregnant people who may be fearful of labour and birth. If you have suffered a previous traumatic birth or have suffered any form of abuse in your past, my coaching sessions can help you prepare for birth and beyond.

I also have significant experience in preparing families for the decision making processes needed if you are an older mother, are planning a VBAC or your baby is in a breech position.

This mini package consists of 5 hour long meetings on zoom or another platform to find out your rights and options, learn about labour and birth, talk through previous birth experiences and plan for a positive birth and parenting experience.

My coaching service is confidential and inclusive of all people.

I am a former Registered midwife and former Nurse.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987 and a Registered Midwife in 1989. I worked as a nurse and midwife alternately before practicing just midwifery since 2002.

In 2002 I gained a Diploma in Antenatal Education through the National Childbirth Trust and have taught antenatal classes then. I also teach other health professionals at conferences and study days both Nationally and Internationally.

I gained a certificate in counselling skills in 1994 and another in 2020 but am not a counsellor.

I am an accredited 3 step rewind practitioner which can help alleviate symptoms after traumatic experiences.

I am also a trustee of a baby loss charity called towards Tomorrow Together.

You can add extra sessions if needed or opt for my total pregnancy plan which consists of 10 coaching sessions

Liz February 2021

I first contacted Joy Horner Birth Joy when I was pregnant with Ciaran for advice because I felt let down in my pregnancy with Liam, and I wanted to be better prepared, more empowered and more informed the second time around. I couldn't personally afford to pay for her to be my independent midwife but she gave me advice on what my rights were specifically regarding my hospital trusts policy regarding strep b, and her advice empowered me to ask for, and achieve the homebirth I wanted, surrounded by the people I wanted without interference from an NHS midwife in a hospital who would not allow me to have who I needed and wanted with me during that time.

She didn't have to. She could have turned me away. But she didn't. And I have never forgotten that. No birth is ever perfect, what you imagine and what takes place will always be different but I know I had a better birth the second time, with far less emotional trauma because I was where I felt secure, at home with my mother, my sister and my friend as my female centred care.

If you are looking for care right now or even if all you need is independent advice, I encourage you to contact Joy. And even if you are not, take down her details because you never know when you or someone you care for might need to speak to her x

Supporting your Pregnancy, Birth and parenting choices

Supporting Individual Choices Since 2002

Your pregnancy, birth and parenting choices are unique to you as an individual. There is no one size fits all in childbirth or parenting, although most people are offered what is called "standardised Care" in our NHS care system.

As a former NHS and Independent Midwife I prided myself on supporting people in their choices. I have sopported someone who chose a primary caesarean for no medical reason, clients who chose to give birth to breech babies or VBAC at home as well as in hospital. Most of my independent clients wished to give birth at home, and many achieved their wishes. But nature sometimes throws in a curve-ball and plans have to change.

I help people decide what their hopes and dreams are for labour, birth and parenting and also help them prepare for when things don't go to plan.

By doing this you can achieve an empowered birth experience however you give birth.
